If you are like most people there are little areas in your home that could use a little something to complete the look. A plant or chair just won’t do. I’m talking about a little corner or nook where an small decorative piece of furniture would do the trick. That’s where the accent table comes in.
Your accent table could be used to hold books, a small lamp, photos or even the old fashioned telephone. In addtion to those little nooks in our rooms there are other uses and places a table would fit nicely.
Take the entry way to your home. An entry table with a vase of pretty flowers makes a home feel inviting. Add a mirror and you’ve just “expanded” the area.
Tables come in all shapes and sizes from round, square, rectangular, oval and even interesting shapes like triangles. Round and square tables are often used as “end” tables in a living or bedroon area and triangular tables are used in corners. Often equipped with drawers and shelves, an accent table can be extremely useful as well as decorative.
Table groupings (clusters of smaller tables together) are taking the place of traditional coffee tables in more contemporary homes. These tables are perfect in front of seating areas in the living room or family room areas. These make perfect pieces for serving cocktails and finger foods, especially for those times when you are entertaining. If you have a family room or room you often entertain in, a small table and bar stools can provide the right atmosphere to the room.
Let’s not forget the kitchen and dining area, among the most important areas of any home. These tables require a good design that makes them functional and inviting. When you want a space where family and friends gather, choose tables that are comfortable and match the aesthetics of the room. These tables are where people typically gather round. They can be purchased alone or as a set with accompanying chairs or stools that allow people to sit down, relax, and enjoy the food that you are serving.
As a general rule, the best furniture tables should be able to handle a weight of at least 300 pounds and are made of durable materials like rubberwood construction. And of course durability you require depends on your usage. Furniture tables for your living room, dining room and high usage areas should have a strong base and durable legs to support the weight of things like books, vases, photos, trophies and other nicnacks.
Adding an accent tables will serve the intended function while providing an attractive feature to those spaces that only a table can accomplish. It’s the perfect finishing touch to dress up any room in your home!
